Let’s Get Sensual!

Introduction and guide into simple STILLNESS practice.

Three years ago, I sold everything I owned and moved to Mexico. Living here has taught me many things. One of the most revealing things Mexico has taught me is how important and how good it feels to chill out, relax, and get sensual (not necessarily sexual) with myself.  The definition of sensual is: Relating to or affecting any of the senses or a sense organ. We are sensory machines! This is how we input data and feel or sense the world around us. We can tune into and use our senses as powerful tools to become present, learn about ourselves and deepen our connection to the energy or force that animates us. A great way to tune into the senses is to first find and cultivate stillness which allows the space and opportunity to focus our attention or awareness on the capacities, function, and power of our senses.

Anyone that knows me know how much I love to dance. I don’t just love to dance. I have to dance. It’s not a choice, it is a drive so deep within me. I can’t describe it. And I have also found how profound, powerful, and revealing the delicious subtle dance of stillness is. Practicing stillness has been a key part of my journey for over ten years. There are many reasons why it is an important and key aspect of the THEGROOVE experience. Stillness follows the same guidelines as THEGROOVE; You can’t get it wrong, It’s ridiculously simple. Anyone can do it, and it feels sooooo good! Stillness or active relaxation is scientifically proven to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, the system that heals and restores the body, a necessary and critical element to counter the effects of our westernized, stressed out culture/society/job/relationships, etc. Not only that, but it allows you to be present with and become aware of your own existence, consciousness, and thoughts. It’s powerful and deliciously awesome.  I know that adding this simple practice or element into your life can be hugely beneficial not only to you and all aspects of your life (work, friends, relationships, health, etc.) but the world as a whole.  We all benefit when we cultivate peace within ourselves.
